Fyllyo or Nitro PDF Pro? An honest comparison.

The short answer

Choose Fyllyo if

  • You’d rather pay $99 once than $139.99 to $180 a year. Nitro doesn’t sell a one-time licence for Mac.
  • You want a free version. Nitro has a 14-day trial.
  • You fill dynamic XFA forms, which Nitro says it doesn’t fully support.
  • You want redaction that checks metadata, comments and attachments for you.

Choose Nitro PDF Pro if

  • You convert PDFs to and from Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Your team needs managed licences and Nitro Sign for e-signature.
  • You want iPhone, iPad and Windows apps too.

Questions

Can I buy Nitro PDF Pro for Mac once?

No. Nitro’s one-time licence, Nitro PDF Classic, is Windows only. On a Mac, Nitro PDF Pro is a subscription: $15 a month billed yearly on Nitro’s site, or $139.99 a year in the App Store. Fyllyo Paid is $99 once.

Does Nitro redact metadata?

Nitro’s Mac guide says sensitive information in the document’s metadata must be removed by hand, because find-and-redact doesn’t scan it. After redacting, Fyllyo finds the same words in comments, form fields, bookmarks, document details and attachments, and removes them there too with one click.

Does Nitro open XFA forms?

Nitro’s Mac guide says it doesn’t fully support dynamic LiveCycle (XFA) forms. Fyllyo Paid opens and fills most of them.

Which is better for teams?

Nitro, if you need managed licences, admin tools and e-signature workflows across a team. Fyllyo has volume pricing for several Macs; ask us.
