The short answer

Choose Fyllyo if

  • You want to fill, sign and edit PDFs for free, with no subscription.
  • You’d rather your files stay on your Mac than in someone’s cloud.
  • You fill forms from your own documents. Fyllyo Paid reads your documents and fills the form’s fields on your Mac, and leaves a field blank with the reason when it isn’t sure.
  • You get government forms that show “Please wait…”. Fyllyo opens most XFA forms, for free.

Choose pdfFiller if

  • You want a browser editor on any computer, with iPhone and Android apps.
  • You want a library of ready-made forms to search and fill.
  • You send documents for others to sign, or fill in bulk from a spreadsheet.
  • You need a SOC 2 Type II certified service for your team.
  • You convert PDFs to Word, or connect forms to Google Drive, Zapier or web forms with payments.

Questions

Is pdfFiller free?

No. pdfFiller has a free trial, then plans from $8 a month billed yearly, or $20 month to month. In Fyllyo every PDF tool is free, with no account.

Does pdfFiller keep my files?

Yes. pdfFiller says your documents are stored in US-based Amazon S3 data centers. Its privacy notice lists training its AI models among the ways it analyzes how its services are used. For documents you upload, the same notice says it uses personal information “only as you instructed us and in an aggregated format”. Fyllyo works on files on your Mac and never uploads them.

Does pdfFiller fill forms from my documents?

pdfFiller lists an “AI Form Filler”, but its pages don’t describe filling a form from your documents. You type into forms yourself, or fill many from a spreadsheet by mapping columns to fields. Fyllyo Paid reads your documents and fills the form on your Mac.

Why pay for Fyllyo when its PDF tools are free?

You don’t have to. You pay only for AI form filling. AI form filling is $99 once. That buys a lifetime licence for one Mac at a time, with free updates and a 5-day free trial. Filling more forms never costs more. The one other charge is for setting up a form of your own. Credits cost $1 per 100, starting at $10, and never expire. Or you can use your own AI key. Setup sends the blank form and its instructions, never your documents. But price isn’t everything. pdfFiller works in any browser, has a large form library and sends documents for signature. Fyllyo runs only on a Mac.
